Visits are held at the following times:

- Sat: 13.30 – 15.45
- Sun: 13.30 – 15.45
To book a visit online, go to www.gov.uk/prison-visits. All you need is the name and date of birth of the person you are visiting, their prisoner number and visitor details. You can choose up to 3 possible dates and times. Prison booking staff will check what’s available and confirm your visit by email. If you’ve made an online visit booking request and haven’t received a confirmation email within 1-3 working days, email [email protected] or call 01747 856586, lines open Mon-Thurs 13.00-15.00 and Fri 11.30-13.00.

The prison has a visitors centre click here that opens between 12.30 and 14.45 and you should book in here for your visit at least 30 mins before the scheduled visiting time. Lockers are available to leave items like mobile phones, cigarettes etc which are not allowed into the prison. You will be expected to provide photo ID and proof of address before entering the prison, and you will be searched by prison staff. You can take money into the prison (up to £30) but in change only to buy refreshments during your visit.

HMP Guys Marsh is located in a rural location about 2 miles from Shaftesbury. Buses run to Shaftesbury click here but from the town it is either a 45 min walk or a taxi ride, call 01747 852020, 01747 850950, 01747 858889.

The charity which runs the visitors centre do provide a bus service on Saturdays from the station to the prison, at a cost of £2 per adult return, book seats for this bus when booking your visit.
If Driving the prison is on the B3091 Shaftesbury to Sturminster Newton road, approximately two miles from the town. Shaftesbury lies on the main A30 Salisbury to Yeovil road (running east-west) and the A350 Warminster to Poole road (running north-south). There is ample parking available at the prison.
