Leyhill provides a range of employment for prisoners offering training and accreditation. These include a Wood Machine Shop, a Printing Shop, a Laundry, a range of Retail Warehousing, a Kitchen, Farms & Gardens, Market Gardens, and a gymnasium. The usual array of orderly positions are offered across a range of Peer Mentoring and Advice roles. The prison works in conjunction with Weston College in providing appropriate employability skills and support, including English, Maths and IT. South Gloucestershire libraries operate a 7 day per week service inside HMP Leyhill.
Vocational training, including Catering & Hospitality, Barbering and Painting & Decorating and Dry Stone Walling is available, as is vocational training in the workplaces which includes Warehousing & Distribution and NPTC Horticulture, CYQ Fitness Instructor, BICS car valet & industrial cleaning. The prison supports ROTLs for paid and unpaid work in the community.
A Substance Misuse Team provides psychosocial help for prisoners with substance misuse issues. This team link closely with relevant community agencies to ensure appropriate support is available to prisoners upon release.
