HMP Send has a regime that enables all prisoners to work, partake in education and recreational physical activity. There is an Education curriculum run in conjunction with A4e that includes adult literacy and numeracy, employability skills, and vocational qualifications in Business Administration, Hairdressing, Customer Services, Horticulture, Professional Catering, Information Advice and Guidance, Gym instructor and Beauty. There are also opportunities for prisoners to undertake Distance Learning courses up to degree level.
Send has a therapeutic community and a psychologically informed physical environment (PIPE) unit, which helps those with personality disorder. There are interventions and courses addressing substance misuse, restorative justice as well as a range of other issues relevant to the risk of offending and harm.
