The prisoners at Hatfield have been working hard over the autumn at Top Hat Park creating a new children’s play area. Top Hat Park is surrounded by family housing and the youngsters did not have a suitable place to practice their skateboarding and BMX skills until the restorative justice team at Hatfield prison stepped in, with the local council, and created the new facility. The work was carried out by men from Hatfield who are nearing the end of their custodial sentences, and helps them reconnect with society at the same time as providing a useful new public amenity.
