The education department is run in conjunction with The Manchester College and offers both full and part time courses in a variety of subjects. At induction, all prisoners are assessed and their educational needs identified. Prisoners can then improve their basic skills in numeracy and literacy and take courses in the following: IT, Health and Safety, FA Refereeing ( provided by the PE department), Business, Performing Arts, Fathers Inside and Food Hygiene. The vocational Training courses include Bricklaying, Plastering, Painting and Decorating, Industrial Cleaning, Basic Joinery, Multi Skills, Recycling, Motor Mechanics, Forklift Truck, Charity Workshop, Gardens, Catering, PICTA Workshop and Laundry.
