The Education programme is offered on a part time basis by Manchester College. Subjects include Literacy and Numeracy from Pre-Entry to Level 2, Information Technology, Art and Design, Cookery, Accountancy, History, ESOL, Financial Literacy, Assertiveness, Parenting, Drug and Alcohol Awareness.
Food Hygiene, Health and Safety Courses and training for the CSCS card are available as vocational training courses. Regular Parenting Days are linked to the Family Learning Course.
Work at the prison for mainstream prisoners , in addition to the usual orderly roles includes Engineering, Welding, Paint Spraying, Bricklaying, Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Industrial Cleaning, Aluminium Window Manufacture, Fork Lift Truck Training, FOCUS Gym Instructor Qualifications, Recycling, Horticulture, Catering and a PICTA workshop leading to high level IT qualifications. VP offenders are employed within Tailoring, Laundry, Welding, Waste Management, a state-of-the-art Print Shop, Retail Workshop, Catering, Horticulture, Industrial Cleaning and the PICTA Workshop.
