Transport to the Prison
If you want to plan your journey on public transport visit the travel web site (click here). It is an excellent way to plan your visits.
The prison is in a rural location and not well served by public transport. To travel by bus from Nottingham Victoria Centre (bus 101/201) to Magna Carta public house in Lowdham village. Then taxi to prison – about £6 – £8. By train Nottingham is the nearest mainline station; there is a local train service to Lowdham village which runs about every 1-1 ½ hrs and takes around 1 ¼ hrs. A taxi from village to prison about £6 – £8, but a taxi from Nottingham to prison about £30 – Alert Cars 0115 9400400.
If travelling by car the prison is located on the A6097 Doncaster to Leicester road about 2 miles north of Lowdham village. It is signposted off the A6097. The prison is about 9 miles north east of Nottingham city centre. There is a large visitors’ car park at the prison and disabled parking places located adjacent to Visitors’ Centre.
