Prisoners are given a full induction briefing when they first arrive at the prison, covering the prison’s policies and procedures, health and safety, and the courses and facilities available to them.
Catering: Catering is provided by Aramark, who deliver prisoners’ meals as well as running the staff canteen.
Chaplaincy: The prison has a full multi-faith chaplaincy team covering Christian and Muslim provision, along with Jewish, Rastafari and Pagan chaplains.
Drug support: The prison runs an on-site drug recovery unit with capacity for around 60 men, combining mutual-aid meetings with psychosocial treatment for prisoners with substance misuse problems.
Gym: There is one gymnasium on site, along with outdoor gym facilities.
Library: The prison has an in-house library, with a reading champion scheme and limited book club and chess club activity.
Resettlement: A number of partner agencies work on site to help prisoners prepare for release, including Ingeus, Interventions Alliance, Nacro, New Futures Network and the Department for Work and Pensions, covering accommodation and employment support.
Healthcare: Healthcare is provided by Practice Plus Group, commissioned by the NHS, offering GP, nursing, mental health, substance misuse and pharmacy services, with dental care subcontracted. There are no in-patient beds on site.
