Advice and Assistance from a solicitor is available on the same financial-eligibility basis as for anyone else, and most prisons have arrangements for solicitors to visit or for legal calls to be made.
Parole and licence matters. If you’re facing a Parole Board for Scotland hearing, or a recall to custody, it’s worth asking your solicitor whether legal aid covers representation at that specific hearing – this varies by case type, so always check rather than assume.
As with everything legal aid–related, rules and financial limits are reviewed periodically, so always confirm current eligibility with SLAB or your solicitor rather than relying on what applied last year.
