HMP Castle Huntly

HMP Castle Huntly, near Longforgan, not far from Dundee, is Scotland’s only open prison, holding up to 184 low-supervision adult male prisoners from anywhere in Scotland. Prisoners move there from closed conditions only after a risk assessment, as part of resettlement work in the run-up to release – focusing on personal responsibility, job readiness, and getting ready to return to the community.

For visiting times, addresses, directions and current contact details, see the official SPS page for this prison.
