HMP Shotts, out in the Lanarkshire countryside, is the only prison in Scotland that holds exclusively long-term adult male prisoners, with room for 538. It opened in its current form in 2012, and includes the National Integration Centre (NIC) – a specialist unit of around 60 places for prisoners in the early stages of sentences of eight years or more, designed to help prepare them for transfer into the mainstream long-term estate.
For visiting times, addresses, directions and current contact details, see the official SPS page for this prison.
