While you’re waiting in the court cells after being sentenced, you’ll be looked after by staff from GEOAmey PECS, the contractor responsible for prisoner escort and court custody across Scotland – they’ll take care of you until you’re taken to prison.
The Scottish Prison Service also runs a Prisoner Listener Scheme, where specially trained fellow prisoners – supported by the Samaritans – are available to talk, in confidence, to anyone who’s struggling. It isn’t always available right at the court stage, but you’ll be able to ask for a Listener as soon as you reach the prison.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed at this stage, please tell a member of staff. They’re used to dealing with this, and can get you support quickly.
