Prisoners are given a full induction briefing when they first arrive at the prison, covering the prison’s policies and procedures, health and safety, and the courses and facilities available to them.
Catering: Catering appears to be run in-house by Serco, rather than through a separate named catering contractor.
Chaplaincy: The prison has a chaplaincy team including Anglican provision, with a full-time bereavement officer supporting prisoners and families after a death.
Drug support: Substance misuse support is provided through the prison’s healthcare contract, currently run by Practice Plus Group, though HMIP inspectors found illicit drugs were too easily available and judged demand-reduction work as needing improvement.
Gym: Gym space has been expanded by converting two workshops into fitness areas.
Library: A library service is provided, staffed in part by Milton Keynes College, the prison’s education provider; the Independent Monitoring Board has called for enhanced library and IT facilities.
Resettlement: POPS (Partners of Prisoners) runs the Visitors’ Centre and family support services, and Recoop is engaged to support older prisoners. A “Departure Lounge” resettlement hub gives prisoners practical help with benefits, ID and housing ahead of release.
Healthcare: Healthcare is provided by Practice Plus Group, with dental care delivered by Time for Teeth. A Care Quality Commission inspection in April 2026 found improved staffing after a change of provider, together with good substance misuse services, but identified shortfalls in medicines management and delays for mental health patients.
