Visits at HMP Fosse Way are booked by the prisoner through the in-cell electronic kiosk system, rather than by visitors calling to book directly; the prisoner then lets the visitor know the date and time. Legal visits are arranged by solicitors emailing the prison directly.
Every adult visitor needs photo ID (a passport, driving licence, EU/EEA ID card, armed forces ID or PASS-accredited proof-of-age card), and on a first visit, proof of address such as a utility bill, council tax bill or bank statement. Children need a birth certificate, passport or Red Book on every visit. Security checks include drug-detection dogs, an X-ray portal, hand-held scanning and fingerprinting, so you should arrive 30–40 minutes before your visit. Visitors can bring up to £60 in cash to spend in the Visitors’ Centre café.
The Visitors’ Centre is run by POPS (Partners of Prisoners), a charity offering a café, and travel, debt and housing advice alongside family days.

The nearest railway station is South Wigston, around a 10 minute walk away; Leicester station is a longer walk or a short taxi ride. The number 47 bus runs from Leicester’s Haymarket Bus Station towards South Wigston, stopping at the end of Tigers Road. On-site parking, including disabled bays, is available.
