Prisoners are given a full induction briefing when they first arrive at the prison, covering the prison’s policies and procedures, health and safety, and the courses and facilities available to them.
Catering: Catering is run in-house by Mitie, rather than through an external catering contractor; there is also a café in the visits hall, run in partnership with the charity Forward Trust.
Chaplaincy: The prison has a multi-faith chaplaincy team, including Anglican, Roman Catholic, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu and Pagan chaplains, directly recruited by Mitie.
Drug support: Forward Trust runs an Incentivised Substance Free Living unit as a dedicated recovery wing, alongside one-to-one and group work delivered by Desistance and Wellbeing Practitioners.
Gym/Library: A gym and sports facilities are provided, along with a library book-cart service; PeoplePlus, the prison’s education provider, supports both alongside vocational training.
Resettlement: Forward Trust delivers substance misuse and family/relationship support (including parenting and relationship programmes), while PeoplePlus provides education, vocational training, employment support and careers guidance.
Healthcare: Healthcare is provided by Practice Plus Group. The prison has faced significant early operational challenges: the Independent Monitoring Board wrote to the Prisons Minister in December 2025 raising serious concerns about safety, staffing and healthcare access in the prison’s first months, which Mitie has acknowledged while describing them as early operational challenges typical of opening a new prison.
