Education and training at HMP Millsike is provided by PeoplePlus under a 10-year contract, covering Functional Skills, English, maths, ESOL, IT, art and vocational trade courses.
Work and Employment
The prison has 24 workshops, with courses and work placements covering construction trades, bricklaying, carpentry, barbering, barista training, and industries such as waste management and laundry/sewing services. PeoplePlus also works with outside employers to help design the curriculum and offer mock interviews, work placements and paid contract work.
A dedicated pre-release employment programme, run during construction of the prison, supported prison-leavers into work with a strong success rate, and similar employment-focused support continues to be a feature of the regime.
