Prisoners are given a full induction briefing when they first arrive at the prison, covering the prison’s policies and procedures, health and safety, and the courses and facilities available to them.
Catering: Catering is run in-house by HMPPS rather than through an external contractor. Inspectors found reasonable prisoner satisfaction with food, though noted the dining hall was under-used and self-catering facilities were limited.
Chaplaincy: The prison has a multi-faith chaplaincy team, including a full-time Muslim chaplain coordinating an inclusive multi-faith service for Christian, Muslim, Buddhist and other prisoners.
Drug support: Substance misuse support is delivered by the healthcare provider, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, combining opiate substitution therapy with psychosocial support.
Gym: The prison has a modern, well-used gym, along with remedial exercise sessions linked to substance misuse recovery.
Library: A small, prison-run library offers a multilingual range of books, films and music reflecting the prison’s international population, and is well used by prisoners.
Resettlement: The Lincolnshire Action Trust has worked at the site since 2005, supporting family contact and delivering intensive pre-release resettlement support covering housing, employment, education, debt and finance, whether a prisoner is due to remain in the UK or be deported. It also delivers RECONNECT, an NHS service supporting continuity of health care before and after release. Barka UK provides deportation support, particularly for Central and Eastern European nationals.
Healthcare: Healthcare is provided by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, offering a 24-hour service with GP, mental health and specialist clinics, with dental care delivered by Time for Teeth.
